Axtero Connect
Your smart card now works on iPhone and iPad.
Opening an encrypted email or signing in with your card usually means going back to a PC. Axtero Connect lets Safari, Mail and other apps on iPhone and iPad use your Swiss government smart card, so you can sign in, encrypt and decrypt away from your desk.
On an iPhone, a smart card is tapped on the top of the phone, the PIN is entered and the card is tapped again to sign in. On an iPad, a smart card is plugged in on the right, the PIN is entered and an encrypted email becomes readable.

No laptop needed
Staff sign in, sign, encrypt and decrypt on the iPhone or iPad they already carry.
Keep the cards you have
Axtero Connect is built for the Swiss government smart cards your organisation already issues to its staff.
Works in the apps they use
Safari, Mail and other apps can use the card for sign-in, signatures and encryption.
Sign in to virtual desktops
If your VDI accepts smart card sign-in, staff can sign in to their virtual desktop with the same card.
The keys stay on the card
Keys and secrets stay on the smart card and can't be extracted. The card's PIN protects them.
With or without a card reader
Newer cards with NFC work without a reader. Staff hold the card to a compatible iPhone. Other cards go into a reader.
How it works
Staff go through the same steps they know from the PC.
Open the app
Staff open Safari, Mail or whichever app needs the card.
Tap or insert the card
They hold the card to the iPhone, or put it in a reader.
Enter the PIN
They type their card PIN, and the card checks it.
Keep working
The card completes the sign-in, signature or decryption, and they carry on in the same app.

On iPhone and iPad, several sign-in pages hide the smart card option, so staff only see the other sign-in methods. With the Axtero Connect extension switched on in Safari, the option is back in the list.

Cards
The BIT Smartcard and the AWB Multicard are supported. Cantonal PKI cards aren't tested yet, so we test yours with you.

Tell us which USB-C or wireless reader you use. We'll check it works with your cards.
